Kingfisher High School seniors Merrin Evans and Maddox Mecklenburg were recognized as the first Junior Lions of the 2022-23 school year by the Kingfisher Lions Club last Thursday.

Evans is the daughter of Justin and Alicia Evans and is a member of National Honor Society and Oklahoma Honor Society.

She is a member of the KHS softball and track and field teams and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and also participates in 4-H trap shooting.

A KHS student of the month and recipient of the 4.0 Award, Evans plans to pursue a degree in elementary education and become a teacher.

Mecklenburg is the son of Justin and Lyndy Mecklenburg and also a member of NHS, OHS and FCA.

He plays basketball and tennis at KHS and is a Student Council representative and participant in Students Stepping Up, a community service organization.

Mecklenburg also was named student of the month and freshman class king and was a recipient of the 4.0 Award.

He plans to attend Oklahoma State University, but hasn’t decided his career path.
