Kingfisher County Extension hosted a Big Clover/Little Clover workshop for the youth of the community enrolled as a Cloverbud (ages 6-8).

The workshop was held on June 17 at the Kingfisher County Fairgrounds.

Lindy Peterman, FCS educator, and Kayla Meyer, Kingfisher Cloverbud leader, were the instructors and provided materials for the class.

“This series of workshops allows the youngest 4-H members the opportunity to interact with the older 4-H students to form a bond with them,” Peterman said.

“The goal of these workshops are to show the Cloverbuds that they can stay in 4-H throughout high school.”

The Cloverbuds were led in pledges, they listened to a book called Monster Bugs, they made a spider snack, created a firefly craft and learned about the 4-H project entomology.

They were taught what entomology is, the cycle of an insect and how to identify an insect.

They also learned that they could study entomology and put together their own bug collection for the fair.

There were 14 participants at the workshop.

“Each participant had a lot of fun learning about the bugs of the world and about the entomology 4-H project,” Peterman said.
