Extension office set to build new facility

By

Kingfisher County commissioners approved calling for bids on a new OSU Extension facility at the Kingfisher County Fairgrounds Monday.

County Commission Chairman Heath Dobrovolny said the extension offi ce has been saving funds for the project over a period of several years, thus the cost of building the facility will not go on county ad valorem tax rolls.

Bids for labor and materials will be received at the office of County Clerk Jeannie Boevers until 4 p.m. Feb. 2 and will be opened at the regular meeting of commissioners on Monday, Feb. 5.

Specifications for the project and plans are available at https://kingfisher. okcounties.org/bids or to General Contractors.

Hard copy of construction documents will be available from Architects (Corbin Merz Haney) upon deposit of $150 per set.

Digital copies will be available at construction news services – Section 002113, Part 2.04, Item B.

These are also available from the purchasing agent located at the Kingfisher County Clerk’s office.

A non-mandatory prebid conference will be held at project location at the fairgrounds in Kingfisher at 2 p.m. Jan. 24.

The county extension staff has been operating from a double-wide trailer provided by the county since a water overflow damaged offices in the county annex building last year.

Commissioners also approved requesting REAP funds to pay a Reed Services Unlimited invoice of $17,456 for two generators at Rural Water District 3’s well sites.

Bill Reitz, who represented the water district at the meeting, said both generators were already in place.

In other action, commissioners approved the following:

• Monthly reports for the offices of sheriff, treasurer, county clerk, assessor, election board, court clerk, court clerk’s preservation fund and health department.

• Removing Dennis Holmes as requisitioning officer for District 1 and adding Mark Adams in his place.

• The sheriff’s annual report and the annual report of the jail commissary account. (The report showed an average of 27.3 inmates per day and 9,975 inmate days during the year, an expenditure of $88,551.28 for food and a $47,546.91 unencumbered balance for the prisoner commissary account.)

• State reimbursement reports for the offices of election board and district attorney.

• Appropriations for the month of December.

• The annual report on the Controlled Dangerous Substance Revolving fund showing an ending balance of $10,100.73.

Commissioners heard discussion from Amy Quinn, regional manager for Shuterra, a roadside vegetation management company owned by Monty Taylor of Dover, regarding services available.

County Engineer Nik Smith also was present along with County Clerk Jeannie Boevers as official minute clerk.
