Extra day of holiday break for KPS students?
Kingfisher students might get an extra day of Christmas break this year.
The board of education is scheduled to have its December regular meeting at 7 p.m. Monday.
Among the items on the agenda is to amend the 2021-22 calendar that would change Wednesday, Dec. 22, from an instructional day to a professional development day.
Currently, the holiday break is set to begin Thursday, Dec. 23.
A change would likely mean rearranging the semester test schedule for high school students.
The current calendar calls for those tests to be held Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 21-22.
Seven positions are set to be potentially filled during the meeting.
Those include a districtwide dyslexia specialist, second grade teacher, high school FACS teacher, KMS custodian, Gilmour paraprofessional, Heritage paraprofessional and a parttime bus mechanic.
Board members will hear from a representative of Britton, Kuykendall & Miller CPAs regarding the district’s audit and subsequently vote to approve it.
Other items on the agenda include:
• Contracts with Joe D. Hall Construction and LWPB Architecture for 2022-23 phased construction and renovation projects;
•Possible membership with the Kingfisher Chamber of Commerce;
• A clinical/internship affiliation agreement with Jacksonville University for hosting a speech pathologist candidate for 2021-22 school year;
• Creation of a junior high library sub-account;
• Action on board policy regarding student transfers.
