Fair board filing starts Jan. 10
Kingfisher County commissioners set the election for county fair board members as 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5 at their weekly meeting Monday.
Outgoing board members include: Jay Evans of Cashion, District 1; Charles Patocka of Hennessey, District 2, and Shane Clifton of Kingfisher, District 3.
County Clerk Jeannie Boevers announced that the filing period for those positions will be from Jan. 10 -14 at the county clerk’s office.
A Covid update for the county showed a reduction of three active cases, compared to the preceding week with 29 active cases.
Towns with active cases include Hennessey eight, up two from last week; Kingfisher with 16, down four, and Okarche with five, up five.
The report showed Cashion with six fewer cases than one week ago.
Commissioners approved Circuit Engineering District 8 auction policies. Commissioners use the auction to sell equipment which is no longer needed.
Other action items receiving unanimous approval included:
• Cimarron Electric Coop for a county road crossing in District 1.
• K&J Construction, approval for a county road crossing for 12-inch and four-inch lines in District 2, at one site nine miles east of Dover.
• A solicitation for bids on a 2015 Freightliner truck belonging to District 1 with roll-over damage and a running engine.
All commissioners were present: Heath Dobrovolny, District 3, chairman; Jeff Moss, vice-chairman, District 1, and Ray Alan Shimanek, District 2, member, along with Boevers as minute clerk, County Engineer Nik Smith, and Sheriff Dennis Banther.
