Farmerettes have monthly meeting
Hennessey Farmerettes met Thursday, March 10, in the home of Lily Rourke with Mary Curry as lesson leader and hostess.
President Dot Miller opened the meeting by leading the pledge to the American flag.
Roll call was answered by 10 members answering: “Do you quilt or will you quilt?”
The devotion by Curry was “A Father’s Potter Wheel.”
The January minutes were read and approved. A special prize was won by Miller.
The treasurer’s report stated the group has a balance of $538.83.
A report on the recent county council meeting, which four members attended, was discussed.
Several items from the current newsletter were read by Miller with several suggestions for members to attend.
Others told of items to donate to Leonardo’s Children’s Museum in Enid and the recycling center, also in Enid.
Discussion about what the group will do for the OCHE week was tabled until the April meeting. However, several suggestions were made.
Janie Akenhead will be the hostess and lesson leader at the April meeting.
The club will invite Lindy Peterman of the Kingfisher County Extension Office to be the special guest.
Margie McConnell distributed information about Hershey’s chocolate.
The quarter drill was won by DeDee Krueger.
The business portion of the meeting was closed.
The lesson was entitled “Quilt as You Go.” Curry provided information on quilting and displayed several pieces she’d made.
Others also shared their ideas and experiences with quilting. Information showing how to do several different quilting ideas was provided to everyone.
Following the lesson, refreshments were served.
