Farmerettes hold April meeting

The Hennessey Farmerettes met Thursday, April 11, in the home of Lily Rourke with Pansy Wheeler, president, presiding over the meeting.

Jamie Akenhead led the American flag salute, followed by the group reading the Oklahoma Home and Community Education (OHCE) Creed.

Kathy Patocka read the purpose of OHCE and shared other information about the organization.

Mary Curry gave the devotion “Love God by loving others.”

Members participated in discussion regarding the new image on United States quarters.

Roll call was answered by each member stating if they had been bitten by a tick.

Corrections were made regarding some members’ addresses and phone numbers.

Minutes of the last meeting were read (with a name corrected) and accepted and the treasurer’s report was also accepted.

A thank-you note was read to the group from children of the Hennessey Public Library.

Members were reminded to submit volunteer hours as well as money which was spent.

Akenhead shared information about club’s history, with other members contributing more information as well as some items for show and tell.

The group’s current members share a total of 585 years of club membership.

Dot Miller and Akenhead shared highlights of their attendance at the district meeting.

Information from the County Newsletter was read and important dates reported.

Maxine Helgeson was the club member selected to be honored at the Red Carpet Honor Night on Thursday, April 18.

Members were informed that the club will serve as one of the hosts for next year’s district meeting in March.

Rourke gave the lesson providing information about ticks.

The meeting was adjourned.

Prior to the meeting, some of the members assisted in assembling crafts to be provided the Hennessey Library for the children participating in story time.
