Farmerettes hold March meeting

The Hennessey Farmerettes met March 13 in the home of Margie Mc-Connell for its monthly meeting.

Maxine Helgeson served as hostess.

Pansy Wheeler called the meeting to order and Paula Nicholson led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag.

Cheryl McClendon read the duties of being an Oklahoma Home and Community Education (OHCE) member to the group.

The devotion “Pause to Pray” was given by Mary Curry and a prayer followed.

Roll call was answered with 10 members discussing what they have done to prepare for Spring.

Minutes of the February meeting were read and approved.

The treasurer’s report was also given and approved.

A note from the Friends of the Library was read to the group expressing thanks for their donation to the Hennessey Library.

Members were reminded that the group will also award the Billie Melendy Memorial Scholarship to a Hennessey senior to assist with college expenses.

Kathy Patocka gave a report about the recent County Council meeting, in which several members attended.

Members of the group also helped prepare food and served at a recent funeral dinner in Hennessey.

Suggestions for a June trip was discussed.

McConnell provided the lesson “40-gallon Challenge” and shared other information as well.

The group was informed that one of the members, Dot Miller, has a serious illness and all prayers are appreciated.

The next meeting will be held on Thursday, April 10, with Nicholson serving as hostess and Jamie Akenhead as lesson leader.
