Cashion, Dover, Okarche and Loyal all had significant gains in the sales tax checks with Loyal leading the way with a booming 3,795.2% hike.

Loyal’s February check set a new record for the town at $89,177.24, compared to $2,310.80 a year earlier.

The increase had to come from oil company contributions as the only sales tax collecting business in Loyal is a grain elevator-feed store.

The Feb. 9, 2023 distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from December business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from Dec. 16-31 and estimated sales from Jan. 1-15.

The disbursement of $203,126,030 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $6,350,912 from the $196,775,118 distributed to the cities and towns in February last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $42,156,270.

In county returns, the counties shared in a $35,026,883 sales tax disbursement anda$7,214,750 use tax disbursement.

Use tax, which is collected at the same rate as an entity’s sales tax for purchases made out-of-state for delivery in state for most county towns and Kingfisher County as follow with the February 2023 amount listed first and the February 2022 amount second: Cashion – $18,905.67 and $13,900.20.

Dover – $3,583.22 and $4,054.50.

Hennessey $56,933.85 and $30,913.06.

Kingfisher–$141,230.36 and $132,727.24.

Okarche – $23,539.40 and $23,505.64.

Kingfisher County – $195,471.70 and $153,913.70
