Filing period, election date set for 3 county fair board seats

Kingfisher County commissioners approved the filing period for the annual election of county fair board members Monday at their weekly meeting.

The election will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, in the lobby of the Kingfisher County Courthouse.

Candidates whose terms expire are Jeff Henrichs of Okarche, Luke Lough of Hennessey and Frank Staude of Loyal.

Filing periods for the offi ces will be Jan. 15 through Jan. 19 with the Kingfisher County Election Board.

Commissioners approved six-month bids for road and bridge materials and commercial roadway work, which were opened at the preceding week’s meeting and tabulated lowest to highest by staff during the interim.

The bids will go into effect beginning Jan.1 and remain in effect through June 30, 2024.

Commissioners declared as surplus six John Deere 6155 M tractors – two in each district, the tractors used for mowing county road rights-of-way.

Other agenda items approved included the following: • Selection of Circuit Engineering District No. 8 for Construction management for the Phillips Bridge replacement project on Lemon Road, northeast of Kingfisher, District 1 project JP#34618. The multi-million dollar bridge is a County Improvements for Roads and Bridges (CIRB)- assisted (with Oklahoma Department of Transportation [ODOT] state-collected funds) project.

• Payment of Pinnacle Consulting Management Group, Inc., invoices. The invoices include $19,800 for easements on 11 parcels and $4,200 for seven easements on seven parcels. After receiving county approval the invoices are submitted to ODOT for payment.

District 2 Commissioner Ray Alan Shimanek said the work was done on the section of the Dover Crescent road scheduled for repaving in efforts to prevent future flooding.

• Payment of $840 to the law firm of Durbin, Larimore and Bialick of Oklahoma City, condemnation attorneys, for work on the Robberts Avenue bridge over Uncle John Creek.

• A right-of-way approval for Blake Production Co. Inc. for a 4.5 inch poly line seven miles east and about one mile north of Loyal, District 3.

Present for the meeting were all commissioners, Heath Dobrovolny, District 3, chairman; Shimanek, District 2, and Jeff Moss, vice-chairman, District 1, along with Jeannie Boevers, county clerk, as official minute clerk, who is back on the job after recent back surgery, County Engineer Nik Smith, and 911 Emergency Calling Supervisor Ryan Deatherage.

Commissioners participated in a 911 board meeting immediately after the commission meeting ended.

Former District 3 Commissioner Keith Schroder of Okarche dropped in for a visit at the conclusion of the meeting.
