1 John 4:16 And we have come to know and believe the love that God has for us. God is love; whoever abides in love abides in God, and God in him. 17 In this way, love has been perfected among us, so that we may have confidence on the day of judgment; for in this world we are just like Him. The Apostle John says that he and other Christians “have come to know and believe the love that God has for us.” What a joy and peace come to us when we KNOW and BELIEVE that GOD ACTUALLY LOVES US! Then he makes this astounding declaration in only three words – “GOD IS LOVE!” Jesus said if you have seen me, you have seen the Father. After seeing Jesus forgive sin, heal people, give hope to the hopeless, do good to all people John concluded, GOD IS LOVE! Pure and simple. Then John makes this amazing statement. “In this world we are just like him.” Oh my goodness! Those of us who have come to know and believe the love God revealed to us in Jesus, who have surrendered to Jesus, we are just like him in this world. We have the power as those who have been created in his image to love people, to bring God’s goodness into the lives of others. We as a congregation are striving to be like our Master every day.
