Fletcher, Ridenour earn scholarships during annual Junior Lions banquet
Lily Fletcher and Xavier Ridenour were awarded scholarships during the annual Junior Lions Banquet.
The two Kingfisher High School seniors were announced as the winners and presented $500 checks by Lions Club President Cindy Harris during the May 1 ceremony at the Federated Church.
The banquet featured all of the 2022-23 Junior Lions as well as their families.
The featured speaker was KHS graduate Kurt Bollenbach.
Bollenbach has a degree in business administration from Oklahoma Sate and graduated from the University of Oklahoma School of Law prior to completing the U.S. Army Officer Basic Course in 2006.
He served as general counsel for commanders, provided legal assistance to service members and acted as military claims officer while stationed in Heidelberg, Germany.
Bollenbach is now the managing director at Teocalli Exploration LLC and also serves as the Kingfisher municipal judge.
He spoke to Junior Lions about being motivated to seek new experience, being willing to be uncomfortable, learning from failure and continuing to grow throughout life.
Fletcher is the daughter of Teresa and James Fletcher.
She’s active in photography, STUCO, FCA and has served as chief photographer and teacher’s aide for the seventh grade Intro to Photography class.
Fletcher is a two-time state photography winner, Student of the Month and was listed on the Principal’s Honor Roll.
She also is involved with STARS after-school program and First Baptist Church.
Fletcher plans to major in pharmacy at Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
Ridenour is the son of Travis and Angelita Ridenour.
He’s active in basketball, tennis, track, FCA, BPA, has served as STUCO vice president and is a member of the National Honor Society and Oklahoma Honor Society.
Ridenour has been a part of two state championship basketball teams, was selected as OCBA District 1 player of the year and All-State and is a two-time all-conference basketball team member.
His other activities include Students Stepping Up, Fish Club, First Baptist Church youth group and was selected as student of the month.
Ridenour plans to attend college after graduation.
