Kingfisher, Hennessey, Dover and Okarche had increases in their August sales tax checks compared to August 2021, according to a release from the Oklahoma Tax Commission.

Dover led the way in percentage of gain at 89.4%.

The towns of Loyal and Cashion received smaller checks compared to last year, as did Kingfisher County.

The accompanying chart shows comparisons for a number of area towns. The August 2022 distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from June business.

Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically.

The monies they reported this period represent sales from June 16 to June 30 and estimated sales from July 1 to July 15.

Thedisbursementof$197,779,010 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $14,358,210 from the $183,420,800 distributed to the cities and towns in August last year.

The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $31,790,512.

In county returns, the counties shared in a $34,173,441 sales tax disbursement and a $6,024,911 use tax disbursement.

Comparison of use tax, which is collected at an entity’s sales tax rate for purchases made out of state for delivery within the state follow with last year’s check listed second:

Cashion – $10,563.91 and $10,763.91.

Dover – $2,779.46 and $2,723.06.

Hennessey – $20,497.24 and $12,249.56.

Kingfisher – $122,934.29 and $65,045.13.

Okarche – $13,153.35 and $18,749.21.

Kingfisher County – $169,619.71 and $176,408.32.
