Geary man dies when car strikes swather

By

A 22-year-old Geary man was killed Saturday afternoon when his 2018 Honda Civic ran into the back of a John Deere swather south of Greenfield.

Patrick Leflore Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene of the 3:30 p.m. accident about eight-tenths of a mile south of Greenfield on U.S. 270, according to an Oklahoma Highwy Patrol report.

Leflore’s vehicle struck the back of the swather, driven by Doyle Neely, 86, of Geary, when the farm machinery slowed in the inside lane of the divided highway, preparing to make a left turn, according to the report.

Leflore was pinned inside his vehicle until extricated by the Geary Fire Department using the jaws of life. His body was transported to a Geary funeral home at the request of the medical examiner.

Neely was not reported injured.

The cause of the accident is listed as under investigation by OHP Trooper Jeff Jech of Kingfisher County. He was assisted at the scene by two other OHP troopers, the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office, state transportation department and Geary Fire Department.
