Gerken, Garrett top OSU seniors
Two Kingfisher High School graduates were recognized among Oklahoma State University’s 50 Seniors of Significance, selected by the OSU Alumni Association.
Emily Garrett, the daughter of Greg and Sara Garrett, and Madelyn Gerken, the daughter of Cara and David Gerken, will both graduate from the Ferguson College of Agriculture.
Garrett is majoring in ag communications and Gerken in animal science.
The women were recognized at a reception last Wednesday at the ConocoPhillips OSU Alumni Center.
The Seniors of Significance Award recognizes students who have excelled in scholarship, leadership and service to campus and community and have brought distinction to OSU.
The 50 students represent the top 1 percent of the Class of 2023, including all five OSU undergraduate academic colleges.
OSU’s outstanding graduating seniors for 2023 will be selected from among the group.
Bree Taylor, another KHS grad, was one of 19 outstanding OSU seniors named last spring.
Taylor, the daughter of Bill and Brooke Taylor, graduated with a bachelor’s degree in agribusiness and currently works as an event coordinator for the American Angus Association in St. Joseph, Mo.
