John 3:16

The world. In the first few chapters of Genesis, we don’t find the word love. But the Apostle John said that God loved the world. The word for world is komizo, which means orderly arrangement. John also says that God is love. The great I AM is love personified. And he likes order. So lets look at the God who is love at work in Genesis.

Genesis 1:2 says “Now the earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.”

The earth was in darkness and formless. So the God who is love, and loves order, said light be. Love brought light, order and peace into the midst of a dark world of chaos. Why did God do that? Because he was creating a world, a garden, that he would love and be a home to all the creatures he would create, and for his special creation, made in his image, man.

And the God of love would bring man into this home of order, love, peace, safety, and abundant provision. Adam and Eve lived in this home and were told to maintain it and have children. Love gave them paradise and walked and talked with the family he loved. That is God’s plan for us.

Love also gives Adam and Eve and mankind the ability to choose. Choose to obey God and remain in his love that provides order, peace and safety, or choose to disobey him.

On the other side of their decision, we celebrate the Light that brings love, order, peace and joy to dispel our darkness and chaos. His name is Jesus. Come and join us as we worship him every Sunday morning at 10Am. Pastor Gene
