Hennessey’s adjustment board gives approval to carport permit

By
Barb Walter

The Town of Hennessey’s Board of Adjustment unanimously approved a variance application allowing a carport to be built in front of the house building line at 706 E. 4th St.

The variance on review was requested by Rafael G. Chavez during a public hearing by the board at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, at Town Hall.

Board members present were Logan Macy, Dustin Vinson and D.L. Knierihm. Absent was Richard Hedrick. (Note: This board only has called meetings.)

Meeting notices were mailed to area homeowners and no one protested the application before, or during, the meeting, Town Clerk Kati Walters told the KT&FP reporter after the meeting.

Reasons given by Rafael and Grace Chavez is that snow accumulates by the garage, freezes over and they have fallen twice there.

Also when it rains from the north, they have high winds and the water gets into their garage. Also, it would give them easier access to their vehicles and keep their vehicles safe from hail, they said.

There are also other carports east and west of their home, they wrote in their application.
