Hennessey annual townwide Garage Sale Day is Saturday
The deadline to get your star on the map is Thursday for Hennessey’s annual garage sales this Saturday.
The cost is $5 to be on the maps that will be free and available on Friday at convenience stores and other businesses in town.
To be on the map, take a $5 check or cash to the All About Network office at 300 S. Main St. and attach a note with your name and your garage sale address.
If the office is closed, you may use the drop box in front of the office.
If you live out of town and still want to participate with sales, you can reserve a spot at Main Street and Oklahoma Avenue next to the Hennessey Mercantile by calling Stacy Cline (405-853-5454).
“Each person having their garage sale/booth/ sidewalk sale will set their own hours,” said Chairman Renee Curry who started the townwide sales in 2013.
She is currently vice president of Hennessey United, sponsor of the event.
She also said those having sales are responsible for any other garage sale ads for their event.
Her advice is not to close down sales at noon, or even at 1 p.m. “so you’ll be open for the out of towners who come in later.”
She also reminds everyone to put signs in their yards, along with balloons, or any other attention-getters so that people will stop at their sale.
One more thing, she said: “Remember to take those signs down after your garage sale.”
Businesses are also encouraged to have sidewalk sales and stay open later this Saturday.
Those who have food booths or fund-raisers are asked to check with business owners before they set up.
