Hennessey Board of Education calls for annual election

By
Barb Walter

A resolution calling for the 2025 annual school election was approved with candidate filing for seat 5 scheduled Dec. 2-4 at the Kingfisher County Election Board.

That seat is currently held by President Patrick Griffin. He told the KT&FP he’d decide in “coming weeks” if he will run again.

If only two candidates file, then the election date is April 1, but if three or more candidates file, the election will be Feb. 11.

Resignation/Hirings

Superintendent Jason Sternberger said he had one resignation: Cierra Haymaker, a paraprofessional.

Sternberger recommended and the board approved hiring these support staffers for the rest of this school year: Shelby Petty, elementary paraprofessional, and David Tillman and Brady Pospisil as route bus drivers.

2025 Board Schedule

These 2025 board meeting dates were approved (all meetings at 7 p.m. and are the second Monday of each month): Jan. 13; Feb. 10; March 10; April 14; May 12; June 9; July 14; August 11, Sept. 8, Oct. 13; Nov. 10, and Dec. 8.

At the Meeting

All board members were present: Griffin, Vice President Dr. James Matthew Matousek, Clerk Luke Lough, Dakota Semrad and Amy Charmasson.

In addition to Sternberger, also at the board table was purchasing agent Randi Franklin who was minutes clerk, in the absence of Timberly Jech.

In the audience were principals Stacey Mack, early childhood, and Barry Crosswhite, elementary, and a visitor, Jimmy Berkenbile.
