Hennessey board gives carport OK on North Cimarron Street after long delay
Hennessey’s Board of Adjustment unanimously approved a setback variance requested by Tom and Joanna Hau to place a 22-foot by 24-foot carport at their home located at 319 N. Cimarron.
The board took the action during its 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, meeting at Town Hall.
The town’s building inspector had denied the Hau permit request because town code requires “the minimum setback is 35 feet from the property line” and the permit request shows it’s “32 feet from the centerline of the street.”
Tom Hau told the board there “is already a carport next door.”
Also, six neighbors gave their approval for the carport, and signed their OK to a statement circulated by the Haus.
Delayed Action
Action by the board of adjustment had been delayed since April 25. That’s because there were only two members on that five-person board and three are required for a quorum.
New members Les Cofer, Keri Keel and Megan Choate were appointed June 11 by Hennessey’s board of trustees. All three attended the July 30 meeting as did continuing members Chairman Richard Hedrick and Dustin Vinson.
Questions
Cofer asked if the location of the town’s water meter would be affected and if the town had any future plans that would be affected by other needs.
“No,” said Town Administrator Tiffany Tillman, who also served as minutes clerk during the five-minute meeting.
