Hennessey Farmerettes have busy agenda at March meeting
The Hennessey Farmerettes, an Oklahoma Home and Community Education (OHCE) organization, met Wednesday, March 13, at the Hennessey First United Methodist Church for its March meeting.
Members assembled 18 Easter bunny kits to be distributed to youth participating in a reading program at the library.
The meeting was opened by the President Pansy Wheeler and the American flag was presented and pledge recited.
Chaplain Mary Curry gave the devotion “The Easter Egg Story,” closing with prayer and presenting a copy of the special devotion to members.
Roll call was answered by 11 members with each one telling how many years they have been a member of an OHCE group.
Guests in attendance were Denise Brim and Kingfisher County OSU Extension Educator Lindy Peterman.
Minutes of the February meeting were read and the treasurer’s report given, with both voted on and approved.
It was announced that the group won the “Standard of Excellence Award.”
Several members who attended the Spring Kingfisher County Council meeting Tuesday, March 12, in Kingfisher reported on the highlights of the event.
Five members of the group won door prizes.
The district OHCE meeting was held Saturday, March 23, at Laverne.
Dates and places for future trips for the group were discussed.
It was announced that information about the history of Hennessey Farmerettes is needed by the April meeting and will then be provided to the county extension educator.
The Hennessey Red Carpet Night will be Thursday, April 18, and the group selected member Maxine Helgeson to be honored at the event.
Peterman requested that members share topics of interest for future lessons.
Plans for OCHE week were discussed.
Paula Nicholson presented the lesson “History of Extension Clubs” and history and photos were shared with the group.
The meeting was adjourned.
Billie Melendy won the dollar drill.
Jamie Akenhead served as hostess and provided cake, nuts and candy for the group.
