Hennessey Farmerettes members hold October meeting at Methodist church
The Hennessey Farmerettes met Thursday, Oct. 10, at the Hennessey Methodist Church for its regular monthly meeting with 10 members and one guest attending.
Vice President Paula Nicholson opened the meeting and led the group in a pledge of allegiance to the American flag and the reading of the Oklahoma Home and Community Education (OHCE) creed.
Mary Curry gave the devotion “A Heart for Giving.”
Guest Marge Patocka was introduced and welcomed by members.
Roll call was answered by members telling of their favorite way to use apples.
Minutes of the last meeting were read with no corrections being added.
The group will provide Halloween candy to the Hennessey Nursing Home for trick-or-treaters and Margie McConnell and Lily Rourke will be in charge of purchasing and delivering the candy.
A report on the Me-morial Fund was given and volunteer forms were distributed, completed and submitted.
Dot Miller provided information about the Reality Check program, Kingfisher County Free Fair and scrapbooks and highlights from the OHCE newsletter were shared with the group.
The next monthly meeting will be a salad luncheon Thursday, Nov. 14, at the Hennessey First Christian Church. Members are asked to bring a salad and be there by 10 a.m.
Maxine Helgeson will be the lesson leader discussing Native American food and culture and members are asked to bring Indian items to share.
Election of officers will also be held during the November meeting.
Discussion of the group’s December meeting and outing was tabled until the November meeting.
The Quarter Drill was won by Margie McConnell and the meeting was adjourned.
Dot Miller provided the lesson “Apples, Apples, Apples.” She shared interesting facts about apples and different ways to use them. Miller also provided samples of different varieties for members to taste and give their opinion are about each.
Hostess Cheryl McClendon served apple cake, ice cream and snacks.
