There were also some of the usual winners - and new ones too - at the the Hennessey Friends of the Library’s 2024 annual Chili Cookoff held last Saturday at the HHS cafeteria.

The fundraiser was another success, and brought in $3,232 in donations, said Cathy Howard, a spokesperson of the non-profit group.

Usual winners were the Dr. James M. Matousek family’s Diamond M Cattle and Wheatland Veterinary Hospital in Kingfisher.

Longtime supporters and winners participating were Tim Taylor (4-T’s Family Market), Mike Harris (Sirrah Investments) and the Meek family.

The Winners

People’s Choice – 1st place, Wheatland Veterinary Hospital; 2nd place tie, Diamond M Cattle and Sirrah Investments; 3rd place tie, Griffin Resources and Reese and Sutton Meek.

Cook’s Choice – 1st place, Diamond M Cattle; 2nd place, 4-T’s Family Market; 3rd place, Reese and Sutton Meek.

Top Dollar Award – 1st place, First United Methodist Church; 2nd place, Diamond M Cattle,; 3rd place, 4-T’s Family Market.

Table Decorations – 1st place, Diamond M Cattle; 2nd place, Hennessey United Methodist Church; 3rd place, 4-T’s Family Market.

Awards and More

In addition to bragging rights for another year, the winners were given special “Chili Cook” aprons.

FOL members thanked those who participated, or attended, this year’s event, along with businesses and others that donated “the ever popular” door prizes.

Proceeds from this fundraiser will be used on projects decided by the group to benefit the Hennessey Public Library.
