Hennessey hires interim administrator
Starla (Cosper) Fuksa has been hired as the interim town administrator by the Hennessey Board of Trustees.
A 1977 Hennessey High School graduate, she is the daughter of Don and Pat Cosper.
Fuksa was interviewed during a 30-minute executive session at a special meeting Thursday, July 27.
After the vote to hire her at $4,200 a month, Mayor Clif Vogt asked if she could start work the next day because they are having some training this week (by former Town Administrator Tiffany Tillman).
Fuksa agreed and said she’d be there at 8 a.m.
David Treanor has served as acting town administrator since February when Tillman resigned.
Since the board didn’t hire an administrator at its July 13 meeting, the mayor asked Treanor then if he’d stay until the end of the month and Treanor agreed.
Treanor now goes back to his job as a full-time parks and cemetery superintendent and pool and splash pad operator.
Office Manager Position The board’s executive agenda also called to “discuss the office manager position,” but Vogt said they were not allowed to discuss that item.
The KT&FP reporter asked why that was the case.
“Because we have someone in that position and we’d be required (by law) to list a name,” said Trustee Bert Gritz.
While the board was in its closed session, Town Treasurer Shelley Burch said she is the office manager and was given that job by Tillman in February before Tillman resigned.
Another executive session item “Review, approve, or deny the office manager position,” was tabled at the request of Vice Mayor Harold Shaw.
Public Works Director Job Opening No action was taken on an executive session item to discuss “hiring a Public Service Director” and an open session item to “hire a Public Service Director.”
Shaw said the item should have listed a “Public Works Director,” then said the board is accepting applications for that position.
