No injuries were reported in a fire Friday, Dec. 8, that demolished a mobile home in Hennessey owned by Dennis Harris.

The fire was reported about five miles west of Love’s (Main and 7th streets).

The cause of the fire was a short circuit from worn insulation to an interior wall in the living area, according to Fire Chief Brandon Scott’s written incident report.

“The roof and floors collapsed,” on the home located on one acre.

The Community Action Team (CAT) will be working with Harris to clear the debris and get a replacement mobile home, according to some Facebook reports.

The fire chief’s report shows that HFD received the 10:26 p.m. call of a structure fire at 12707 E 680 Road.

Firefighters left the station at 10:28 p.m. and the fire was “a fully engulfed house fire with all occupants outside the home and safe” when firefighters arrived at the scene.

The fire was under control by 10:45 p.m. and the last unit cleared the scene the next morning at 1:15 a.m.

Engine 2 “was first on the scene and set up for defensive attack with a 1 1/2-inch pre-connect line and after an initial Basic Life Support assessment, Harris denied any further medical treatment,” the chief’s report shows.

“Rural 3 and Rural 1 trucks arrived immediately following E2 and put out surrounding grass fire, then helped on the structure. Both R3 and R1 used their 1-inch booster lines for attack on the structure and Tanker 1 also responded and provided water for E2, R1, and R3 as needed.”

Firefighters at the scene were: E2, Capt. John Streck, Levi Copeland and Kyle Keeton; R1, Chief Scott and Capt. Dustin Munroe, and R-3, Capt. Logan Macy and Cris Pribyl, and T-1, Dustin Grellner.
