May 26 — Officer Matthew Bruner was running radar at West Jack Choate Avenue and Cemetery Road facing east into town at 11:22 p.m. when he saw a pickup truck followed by a gray car both traveling at high rates of speed, according to his report.

He activated his emergency lights at the stop sign at Main Street when the driver of the car drove around the truck through the flashing red lights/stop sign. The car proceeded south on Main Street. Bruner activated the siren, but the car didn’t stop and he chased it through downtown until it stopped in the 900 block of South Main Street.

The driver got out of the car and Bruner’s report said she ignored his vocal commands to stop. He told her if she didn’t stop that she’d be placed under arrest. She said, “I don’t care,” the officer’s report shows.

The officer then called for a back-up officer and later Reserve Captain Bryan Burch arrived on the scene.

Bruner wrote that after the woman calmed down, she admitted to all the offenses so that her boyfriend in the truck “wouldn’t be pulled over.”

She committed the offenses “out of love for her boyfriend,” she told police, the report shows.

Her citations totaled $1,032 and were for speeding 16-20 mph over limit, improper passing, failure to stop at stop sign, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and expired driver license.

May 17 — Burglary. Officer Bryan Taylor took a report from Beryl Grant Moore III, Hennessey, about a theft from his storage unit at 401 S. Main. Moore told police that someone had cut the padlock on his storage unit that he’d placed there two weeks before, according to the report.

Items reported stolen were power tools, ammo, three oilfield work trays and miscellaneous household items including clothes, shoes, furniture, etc.

May 14 — Domestic violence (second and subsequent offense) and disruption, or prevention, of emergency telephone call. Officers Jeremiah Loper and Christian Solis responded to a woman’s screams about a half-block west of the police department that were heard by an off-shift dispatcher. According to the report, the incident occurred in the 200 block of South Main Street.

Police questioned a nearby 35-year-old man and after their investigation, he was transported to the county jail.

The 37-year-old woman told police she tried to call 911.

“He started to try to break my car door,” the reports show. When she got out of the car and tried to call police “he grabbed my phone and keys and threw them and started hitting me in the face,” according to the report.

Police took photos of the broken phone next to the car.

She had a knot on her forehead, red marks on her right bicep and there was a small cut inside her top lip, according to the report.

May 11 — Accident. Officer Jeremiah Loper responded to a two-vehicle accident on State Highway 51/Main Street at 8:45 p.m. Driver one was a 16-year-old juvenile male of Hennessey. Driver two was Jessica Schovanec, 20, Hennessey. The report shows the juvenile failed to yield from a stop sign. Both vehicles were towed.
