Following are reports recently filed by members of the Hennessey Police Department:

Helmet complaint – A caller reported Oct. 31 that children on three-wheelers without helmets were riding in the streets and in a field. An officer told the caller the children had permission to be in the field from information in an earlier complaint. The officer went to the Saddleback Addition and spoke to the children who were told to wear their helmets, and the children apologized, he wrote in his report..

Medical emergency – Bryann Guffey arrived at the PD Oct. 31 with a medical emergency for Tyler Guffey, who, according to the report, had been convulsing and was in visible pain and wearing a back brace. An ambulance was called and the patient was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital.

Vehicle impounded – Officer stopped a white GMC Yukon four-door hatchback at Jack Choate Avenue and Main Street Oct. 24 for an expired tag. Driver Ronald Gene Hooley did not have an insurance card or registration for the vehicle, according to the report. The officer and OHP officer were unable to find a VIN number anywhere on the vehicle. Hooley said the vehicle belonged to “Brandon” and he didn’t know his last name, but he was buying it from him, according to the report. The officer asked if the vehicle was stolen, and according to the report, Hooley said, “Not that I know of.” The officer asked if he had re-tagged the vehicle, and Hooley said he had not because the tag was still good. Hooley was ticketed for an altered VIN, no tag and no insurance. The vehicle was inventoried, then impounded and picked up by Southside Wrecker, the report shows.

Car in intersection – Police were dispatched to 7th and Main streets Oct. 23 where a car was parked in the middle of the intersection. The reporting party said they struck a deer near Kingfisher, but didn’t think it was too damaged to drive. After they were unable to restart the car, the driver called for a tow truck.

Scam – Ayerim Fierro contacted police Oct. 18 about a possible scam when she purchased concert tickets online and later the seller in Shawnee, Kan., said she needed $200 more to change the name on the tickets. Fierro said she asked for her money back and the woman agreed. The officer advised if the funds weren’t transferred back into her account to call the PD and file a report. Fierro filed a statement with police Oct. 22 that Penelope Garcia refused to give her money back. Kansas police said the woman’s name was Michelle and her brother, Noah, was contacted and said he will try to come up with a solution to the problem.

Stolen rabbit – Jesus Olivas Villalobos, 412 N. Cimarron, reported Nov. 8 that his black rabbit was stolen from its cage in the back yard. The cage “appeared to have been ripped open,” according to the report. Villalobos said he’d paid $150 for it and sent a photo of the rabbit to police.

Dog at large – Melissa Macy, 601 S. Cimarron, reported Nov. 1 that her dog was attacked by another dog. That dog belonged to Craig Ullery, 700 S. Cimarron. Ullery told the officer it was an accident that the dog got out of their yard, the report shows.

Fire reported – Bryann Guffey reported at 5:40 p.m. Nov. 3 that her mom and dad’s stove at 506 S. Main caught fire. She called back a few minutes later and reported that her dad and Logan Macy got the fire out.

Unknown man gets into woman’s car – An officer responded to an 8:40 p.m. Nov. 15 call to the Love’s parking lot because an unknown man got into a car owned by a Love’s employee. The female employee had gone to get something from her vehicle and the man got into the back seat. The officer got the man, later identified as Jose Costillo, out of the car. He said he got in there because he was cold. Costillo asked the officer to take him to jail. The officer had him collect his belongings that were against the north wall of the store, and took him to the police department. That’s where Costillo told him he came from Texas and didn’t have a car. The woman whose car he got into didn’t want to press charges and the officer told Costillo he would not be arrested. Costillo said he wanted to go to jail because it was too cold at night. The officer offered Costillo a ride and took him to Enid.

Dog call – A caller reported Nov. 17 at 11:07 a.m. that a dog was chained up to a trailer behind a home in the 100 block of N. Cherokee. An officer checked on the dog, and it did have water and shelter. No action was taken, and the name of the caller was not listed.

Accident – A caller reported an accident at the old gymnasium on Main Street at 3:45 p.m. Nov. 20. Both drivers said it was a minor accident and did not want an accident report made. No names were listed in the report.
