Hennessey Senior Citizens makes plans for Game Day; auction items ‘appreciated’
All ages are invited to play cards, bingo, dominoes, shoot pool (bring your own stick if you want), play trivia games or join a scavenger hunt during “Game Day” at the Hennessey Community Center, 620 E. 2nd St.
It is scheduled for 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17.
This is also an opportunity to get to know, or get reacquainted, with the former Senior Citizen Center that is now owned by the Town of Hennessey.
It is open to all ages from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, except holidays.
No Admission Fee
There is no admission charge and the afternoon will also include a kiddie corner, trivia games, a scavenger hunt, photo booth and live music, according to planners who will be joined by Coronado #56 Lodge members in hosting the event.
Donations will be accepted that afternoon for chili dogs with all the trimmings and homemade desserts.
Silent Auction Donations
There will also be a silent auction and “donations would be appreciated,” said planners.
To donate items, or for more information about Game Day, call Teresa Dillon (210-264-7132) or Shirley Koons (405-853-0643).
All donations will be used for Senior Citizen projects and programs.
That includes needed replacement and upgrading in the center’s kitchen used for the five-day-a-week food program (available to all ages served at the center, or for pickup or delivery).
Also, office equipment and supplies are needed for complying with reports for state and federal assistance programs and purchasing food, etc.
