Hennessey United’s Red Carpet Night is 7 p.m. Thursday, April 17, at The Mercantile on Main Street.

The program and reception are to recognize exceptional members of local social and service organizations, teachers of the year and others deserving recognition in the community, said Cathy Howard, Hennessey United secretary and chairman of the event.

If you have not notified Howard about someone to be honored, contact her soon (405-368-8927) to be included on the printed program.

Friends, family and members of supporting organizations are welcome, and encouraged, to attend.

This recognition event was started in 2011 during a unity banquet with former Gov. George Nigh as the keynote speaker.

The late Jean Anne Casey and Helen Cline, organizers of Hennessey United (formerly named Hennessey 2010 and organized in 2000), were the civic group’s first recipients.

The United board finalized plans for this year’s Red Carpet Night during the March 20 meeting.

Attending this month’s United meeting were President Scott Hajek, Vice President Renee Curry, Treasurer Tammy Lott-Hopkins, Howard and members Angie Bruner, Dagan Hardin, David Jones, Tracie Macy, Vice Mayor Harold Shaw, Ashley Zielny and Barb Walter.

Absent were Brooklyn Harris (student member), and Lisa Voskuhl.

Invited guests were Tiffany Rowen and Shelley Burch who represented Town Hall and the Lions Club about upcoming Easter events.
