Hennessey service organizations to recognize members, volunteers, top teachers Thursday
RED CARPET NIGHT
Hennessey United’s 14th annual Red Carpet Night is 7 p.m. Thursday, April 18, at The Mercantile on Main Street, which is a new site for the event.
The program and a reception will recognize exceptional members of local social and service organizations, teachers of the year and others deserving recognition in our community, said Cathy Sturgeon Howard, Hennessey United secretary and chairman of the event.
If you have not notified Howard, but have someone to be honored, contact her immediately (405-8536212) although it is probably too late to be included on the program.
Friends, family and members of supporting organizations are welcome and encouraged to attend.
This recognition event was started in 2011 during a unity banquet with former Gov. George Nigh as the keynote speaker.
The late Jean Anne Casey and Helen Cline, organizers of Hennessey United (formerly named Hennessey 2010 and organized in 2000), were the civic group’s first recipients.
The United Board finalized plans for this year’s Red Carpet during their March meeting at the Mercantile.
They will have their April board meeting at the Merc immediately after the reception.
Attending that meeting were President Stacy Cline, Treasurer Tammy Lott-Hopkins, Howard and members Vice Mayor Harold Shaw, Renee Curry and Barb Walter.
Absent were Vice President Teresa Oliver, Dagan Hardin, Kaden Mitchell, Scott Hajek, Kim Gritz and Brooklyn Harris.
A guest at the meeting was Town Trustee David Jones.
