Hennessey sets filing, election dates for board seats, town treasurer
Hennessey’s Board of Trustees and Utilities Authority members unanimously voted to set the Feb. 3-5 filing dates and call for an April 1 town-wide election to fill three board seats and the town treasurer position.
Members unanimously approved both actions during their Tuesday, Dec. 10, meetings at Town Hall.
All four trustees were present: Mayor Harold Shaw, Bert Gritz, David Jones and Randy Bohnstedt.
Two of the three board seats have four-year terms and are currently held by board members Shaw and Jones.
The other board seat is only for two years. That’s due to the June 30 resignation by then-Mayor Clif Vogt.
The remaining four board members were unable to agree on who to appoint to the board and had 2-2 stalemate votes on that issue.
The board took applications for Vogt’s board seat and six citizens applied. All showed up for a special meeting Aug. 13 to appoint a new member, but there was again a stalemate.
There were three nominations and votes, but all failed: the first was a 2-2 vote, then 1-3 and 1-3.
Candidates who’d com- pleted the town’s questionnaire and attended that August meeting were Michael Grace, Frank Patton, Tim Riddle, Mark Smith, Logan Tillman and Regina Wanzer.
The current town treasurer is Shelley Burch. She is also the Town Hall office manager.
February Filing Timeline The filing period for three seats on the Hennessey’s Board of Trustees and Utilities Authority and town treasurer is 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, through Wednesday, Feb. 5 at the County Election Board at the Kingfisher County Courthouse.
Registered voters who live inside the Hennessey town limits will select their three choices for board members and for a treasurer in a Tuesday, April 1, election.
