The Times & Free Press confirmed the deceased is Jarrett Smith. First Baptist Church of Hennessey was planning a prayer service family and friends on Tuesday evening, Nov. 21.
According to the OHP report, a 17-year-old Hennessey male was driving a 1986 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer east on E640 just east of Mitchell Road at 2:45 p.m.
Due to unsafe speed, the report said, the vehicle departed the roadway left into a field and rolled oneand- one-half times, coming to rest on its top.
Smith, the passenger, was ejected, the report said, adding that seatbelts were not in use by either occupant.
Smith was taken to an Enid hospital by Life EMS of Hennessey, but was pronounced deceased upon arrival.
The driver was taken to a hospital by private vehicle but was treated and released.
The accident was investigated by OHP Trooper Jason Burch of the Garfield County Detachment of Troop J.
