Hennessey United’s Red Carpet Night is 7 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at The Mercantile on Main Street.

The program and a reception is to recognize exceptional members of local social and service organizations, Teachers of the Year, and others deserving recognition in our community, said Cathy Sturgeon Howard, Hennessey United secretary and chairman of the event.

Friends, family and members of supporting organizations are welcome, and encouraged, to attend.

This recognition event was started in 2011, during a unity banquet with former Gov. George Nigh as the keynote speaker.

The late Jean Anne Casey and Helen Cline, organizers of Hennessey United (formerly named Hennessey 2010 and organized in 2000), were the civic group’s first recipients.
