Hennessey United board picks cowboy hat colors, discuss upcoming events
The colors for the big cowboy hat at Casey’s north of the U.S. Highway 81 and State Highway 51 intersection were decided, but those colors have not been officially announced by the Hennessey United Board of Directors.
Ron Arter with Eagle Painting took a color chart to the United board’s Jan. 8 meeting at Vernost Wine Co. and told the group he’d start on the project right away.
Members discussed upcoming nominations/ decisions for their Citizen of the Year for the Red Carpet Night.
They also discussed the April 25 car show being chaired by board member Harold Shaw, who was not at the meeting.
Also discussed was the Friends of the Library’s annual crockpot cook off Saturday, Feb. 7, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Hennessey High School cafeteria.

Discussion included a new design for the Wine and Chocolate Festival cards, and publicity.
Also discussed was sending informational cards about the 2026 festival to wineries and breweries across the state.
Members present were President Scotty Hajek, Vice President Renee Curry, Secretary Cathy Howard, Dagan Hardin and Wyatt Muzny.
Visitors attending were Ron Arter, Brooklyn Harris, Jack Quirk and Tiffany Rowen.
Absent were board members Treasurer Tammy Lott-Hopkins, Randy Bohnstedt, Angie Bruner, Tracie Macy, Shaw, Lisa Voskuhl, Barb Walter and Ashley Zielny.
The board’s next meeting is Thursday, Feb. 19, at Vernost.
