Heroes support heroes in benefit clay shoot
Heroes took part and heroes were rewarded.
That was the message of LuGreg Trucking’s Greg Kannady after the Kingfisher- based company hosted its inaugural “Fire for Fire” clay shoot fundraiser at The Cedar Gate.
The event was held Oct. 13 with all proceeds garnered set to benefit the fire departments in Kingfisher County.
It eventually raised $40,000, which Kannady presented to members of fire departments from Okarche, Kingfisher, Hennessey, Loyal, Omega and Cashion last week.
Being a member at Cedar Gate affords the opportunity to host a clay shooting event once a year, whether it be for a benefit, employee appreciation or other purposes.
“They offer this heartfelt opportunity to give back,” Kannady said.
“When we started thinking about who we could support, we knew we wanted to give back locally.”
LuGreg opted to give to the fire departments and first responders to “recognize those who respond to our emergencies.”
Or, as Kannady said, “our local heroes.”
The event turned out better than he could have projected.
The surrounding area ensured its suceess.
“From the people who participated to the people who sponsored, it made it a great event,” Kannady said. “This community, this area, the business response we had...they’re heroes also for helping support it.”
