It’s beginning to look a lot like Thanksgiving...and Christmas, based on the growing schedule of local family events starting this weekend.

School Benefits Both Holy Trinity Catholic School and Lomega Educational Academic Foundation scheduled benefit dinners and auctions for Saturday night, Nov. 6, at 6 p.m.

Holy Trinity’s event is at the school gym and the entry fee includes dinner and drinks.

The LEAF auction is preceded by a by-donation brisket supper hosted by the student council in the elementary school gym.

Turkey Dinners

Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Loyal United Methodist Church are both hosting their annual turkey dinners. Sts. Peter and Paul begins serving carry-out meals at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 7, at its parish hall. Loyal’s dinner will be served from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14, at the church.

Downtown Open House

With the help of Kingfisher Chamber of Commerce, downtown merchants and restaurants are hosting their annual Holiday Open House beginning at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 7 with a pop-up market at 312 N. Main St. with a number of local vendors.

Other downtown merchants will be delivering bargains beginning at noon and tables outside of businesses will offer al fresco dining for take-out meals purchased at the Catholic church or local restaurants.

Photos with Santa (2-4:30 p.m.) and snowcones (12-5 p.m.) will be available at 302 N. Main St.

Chili Supper Loyal Fire Department will host its annual chili supper from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Nov. 13 at the fire station.

Veterans Breakfast

After a two-year hiatus during the pandemic, the Keith Lowry-Henry Ellison American Legion Post No. 5 and the American Legion Auxiliary will host local veterans and active duty military at the Veterans Breakfast from 7:30-9 a.m., Nov. 11, at the Kingfisher Elks Lodge.

Pink Friday

A downtown alternative to Black Friday, the traditional day-after-Thanksgiving shop fest that usually draws dollars away from local merchants to big city or online stores, is also planned this year.

“Pink Friday” will offer extended shopping hours from 4-8 p.m. Nov. 19 at participating downtown stores, culminating with a tree-lighting ceremony outside the new Kingfisher Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center at 110 E. Broadway Ave.
