Home, barn damaged by fire; cause still being investigated

By

The cause of a fire that caused extensive damage to a barn and home near Lake Elmer early Sunday morning is still under investigation.

Kingfisher Fire Department was called to a fire about one-half mile north of Airport Road, just off of County Road N2810 at 4:21 a.m. Sunday.

According to the KFD’s report, a fire started at a barn and strong winds had spread to the nearby double-wide mobile home.

It was confirmed the home is owned by Mike and Erin Delozier.

The report said when the fire department was called, all people and animals were out of the house.

En route to the scene, KFD called for assistance from the Okarche, Dover and Loyal departments, the report said.

It added that the fire was in the attic area of the home and firemen pulled sheetrock to extinguish the fire.

Chief Ryan Gibson said there was extensive smoke damage throughout the home.

He added the state fire marshal is still investigating the cause of the initial fire.
