Government offices and banks will be closed Friday in honor of Veterans Day, but many local organizations will be busy recognizing current and former military service men and women.

U.S. Navy Fleet Master Chief Delbert Terrell Jr., 1988 Kingfisher High School graduate, will be the featured speaker at the KHS Veterans Day assembly at 11 a.m. at the All-Purpose Building.

The patriotic assembly includes performances by the KHS band and choir and is open to the public.

A complementary luncheon will be served immediately following for all veterans and their family members. The 103rd annual Veterans Day Breakfast hosted by the Keith Lowry/Henry Ellyson American Legion Post No. 5 is scheduled from 7:30-9 a.m. Friday at the Kingfisher Elks Lodge.

Members of the local American Legion Auxiliary and KEWAs will served the complementary breakfast and local entertainer Emily Faith Sanders will perform the National Anthem at 8 a.m.

Additional hosts this year include the Kingfisher Elks Club and Kingfisher Chamber of Commerce.
