HPS board makes additional teacher hires, approves sports, non-sports, extra-duty jobs
Hennessey Board of Education members closed out their Monday, July 8, meeting after approving several personnel matters.
There was no executive session to discuss the hirings. Present at the meeting were board members Patrick Griffin, president; Luke Lough, clerk; Dakota Semrad and Amy Charmasson. Absent was Dr. James Matthew Matousek, vice president.
In addition to Superintendent Jason Sternberger, also at the board table was Timberly Jech, office manager and minutes clerk.
Other staff in the audience were Early Childhood Center Principal Stacey Mack and Technology Director Todd Cameron.
HS History Teacher
Hired as a certified high school history teacher is Jacob Steward of Hennessey. He will also be an assistant fastpitch softball coach and an assistant junior high baseball coach.
Steward graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in Christian ministry, majoring in children’s ministry with a minor in worship arts. He worked as a farmer at L&S Pollard Farms, Dover, March 2023-24; minister to children, Southern Hills Baptist Church, Oklahoma City, July 2018-23, and children’s pastor, First Baptist Church, Marlow, August 2015-2018.
Two Adjunct Teacher Hires
Doug Boyd was hired as an adjunct high school biology teacher this month. He was hired in May as a certified high school science teacher.
Kevin Hopkins was hired as an adjunct high school language arts and physical science teacher.
He was hired last month as a certified high school English and science teacher.
