The four Hennessey Public School principals were rehired for the 2022-23 year after a 30-minute executive session Monday, Feb. 14, by the school board.

Rehired were Josh Faulker, high school, and Ricardo Tarango, middle school, who are both in their first year at Hennessey.

Also rehired were Barry Crosswhite, in his ninth year as elementary principal, and Stacey Mack, in her eighth year at Hennessey, and her fourth year as principal of the early childhood center.

She was the middle school principal four years before that.

Other personnel matters

Superintendent Jason Sternberger told the board he’d accepted the resignations of Flor Velasco and Melissa Macy, both para-professionals.

The board hired Cierrah Haymaker as a para-professional and Brenda Gonza lez as a temporary custodian for the remainder of the school year.

Matthew Fuksa was approved as an adjunct teacher for one hour of middle school physical education. He also teaches eighth grade social studies and is the high school baseball coach.

Facility report

Sternberger reported that track repairs were scheduled to start the next day.

A chart for the work shows: curb repairs on track and installation of new takeoff boards on the long jump were scheduled Feb. 15-22; laser grading the new base for asphalt, Feb. 21-22; asphalt paving on track, Feb. 23-25, and a 28-day cure time on the asphalt would start Feb. 26.

That was all dependent on the weather.

Sternberger said cinderblock work continues at the softball field, the dirt work on the west side of the ag barn and work continues on the ongoing outdoor classroom at the early childhood center.

At the meeting

All board members were present for the meeting: President Dr. James Matthew Matousek, Vice President Luke Lough, Clerk Patrick Griffin, Cristopher Choate and David Tillman.

Also at the board table was Sternberger and Timberly Jech, recording clerk and office manager.

Other staff at the meeting were Faulkner; Tarango; Crosswhite; Mack; Jill Moery, HHS counselor; Todd Cameron, technology director; Rae Fuksa, sixth grade math teacher and tech assistant.

In the audience were Sheila and Fred Duell, Todd Vaverka, Jesse Ashlock, Jimmy Patocka, Dr. David Matousek, James Matousek, John Peach, Keith Meek, Leon and Sonya Hill, Sharon and Steve Pollard, Chandra and Damon Seiger, Wes Hardin, Brent Hardin and Ashley Zielny.
