Inflation hits county road, bridge bids
Kingfisher County commissioners opened 30 bids on the six-month bid list for road and bridge materials and commercial roadway work Monday.
Several bids were noticeably higher than the preceding six-month bids, leading District 2 Commissioner Ray Alan Shimanek to observe that rampant increases in the price of fuel are driving up costs of all work and projects.
Shimanek moved to accept all the bids – tabulated lowest to highest – for use as needed during coming months.
Commissioners approved a low bid of $72,500 from Calm Construction of El Reno to build a new county health department drive-through and storage building.
Other bids received came from Ray Scott Construction of Ponca City, $171,810, and Tri Cor Construction of Oklahoma City, $105,365.
Commissioners also approved solicitation of new bids for labor and materi als, cleaning and painting the exterior of the courthouse and annex.
Bids will be accepted until 4 p.m. July 1 at the office of County Clerk Jeannie Boevers and will be opened at the commissioners’ regular meeting July 5.
