June sales tax checks bigger for 4 towns
Four Kingfisher County municipalities received increases in their June sales tax checks compared to June 2021, according to the June report released by the Oklahoma Tax Commission.
Kingfisher, Hennessey, Cashion and Loyal all showed larger checks than in June 2021.
Kingfisher County’s June 2022 tax check was 18.5 % smaller. (See details in accompanying chart.)
However use tax checks were higher for Cashion, Dover, Hennessey, Kingfisher, Okarche and Kingfisher County.
The June 2022 distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from April business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from April 16 to 30 and estimated sales from May 1 to May 15.
The disbursement of $190,246,454 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $7,088,528 from the $183,157,926 distributed to the cities and towns in June last year.
The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $29,718,946.
In county returns, the counties shared in a $32,463,446 sales tax disbursement and a $5,414,546 use tax disbursement.
Use tax is based on purchase of products out of state for use in state. Use tax rates are the same as each entity’s sales tax rate.
Use tax received by county entities for June 2022 follow with the use tax amount received in June 2021 listed second:
Cashion – $6,214.64 and $1,708.73.
Crescent – $7,459.93 and $7,389.81.
Dover – $4,035.83 and $3,445.63.
Hennessey – $23,704.26 and $16,634.58.
Kingfisher – $97,913.36 and $35,035.53.
Okarche – $28,726.51 and $16,234.61.
Kingfisher County – $201,763.86 and $125,121.44.
Watonga in Blaine County showed a use tax check of $6,627.99 this June compared to $27,968.57 a year earlier.
