Kamas adds more honors to standout freshman campaign
Maddi Kamas was one of three Oklahoma City University Stars to become consensus NAIA women’s golf all-Americans for the 2021-22 season.
That came after Kamas was named to the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-America team recently.
She was named to the first team along with teammate Reagan Chaney. Fellow Star Natalie Gough was honorable mention.
All three were also on the NAIA all-America squad.
Kamas recorded the second best stroke average in Oklahoma City history with 72.70 shots per 18 holes.
A freshman who graduated from Kingfisher High School in 2021, Kamas landed three wins, nine top-five showings, four rounds below 70 this season and a tie for third in the NAIA Championships (69-69-70–208).
Kamas seized the SAC individual title with a 71- 73-71–215 on April 25-26 in Duncan.
She was honored with three SAC player of the week awards and NAIA golfer of the week for March 28-April 3.
Kamas won the Class 4A individual state championship for KHS during her senior season.
She was also one of seven OCU women’s golfers to be named WGCA All-American Scholars.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. Recipients must have earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50.
Prior to her arrival at OCU, Kamas was awarded a full scholarship to the Meinders School of Business and is currently a part of the select Meinders Business Leadership Fellows Program.
