Officers and board members of the Kingfisher County Retired Educators Association (KCREA) met this summer in the home of Donna Jech to work on plans for the coming year.

All retired educators and support personnel are welcome and encouraged to join the association.

Officers for the 2021-22 year include Nancy Teders, Cathy Howard, Dana Golbek and Donna Jech. Other board members are Terri Peck and Florene Tipton.

The purpose of the association is to promote the interests and welfare of retired educators, to maintain retired educators’ identity with the education profession, to enhance the image of retired educators and to participate in educational and community activities.

The group awards a scholarship annually to a county college student majoring in education.

This year’s recipients were Kristina Walker of Dover and Dawson Leffingwell of Kingfisher.

Speakers for the year include Sabra Tucker, OREA executive director; Nancy Romyak, Health Choice; Christine Reid, Kingfisher Times & Free Press; Dr. Daniel Craig, Kingfisher Public Schools superintendent; and Jason Harris, Chisholm Trail Museum .

The next meeting will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, at Kingfisher Memorial Library.
