KHS to ‘surf’ through homecoming week
Parade, bonfire, coronation, game later this week
Kingfisher High School’s football homecoming queen and captain will be announced this Friday night.
The coronation and football game are the culmination of a week of festivities for the high school students and two days of events in which the community can take part.
Homecoming theme
“Surfing to Victory” is the theme for the week.
“The Kingfisher High School Student Council has been planning diligently for the homecoming festivities,” said Amy Pearson, one of two KHS faculty members working with students for the event. She is joined by Stephanie Bieren.
Alli Themer is the Student Council president this year and Xavier Ridenour the vice president.
Mia Franco is the homecoming chairperson. Students will have different dress-up themes each day during the week.
The Student Council has also been taking orders for homecoming t-shirts and sweatshirts (a limited number will be available at the game).
Parade
The homecoming parade this year will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6.
The parade will be in downtown Kingfisher, beginning at Walter Building Center and move south down Main Street.
It will include all the Kingfisher football teams, the Pride of Kingfisher marching band, homecoming court and other school classes, clubs and organizations.
Still time to enter
Organizations or individuals who wish to participate can contact Pearson at apearson@kingfisher.k12. ok.us to be placed in the parade line-up.
The deadline to sign up is Tuesday, Oct. 4.
Bonfire pep rally
Following the parade, a bonfire pep rally will be held on the KHS campus at 8 p.m.
It will be just west of the football practice fields, or north of the softball complex.
The community is invited to the bonfire pep rally as well.
