KHS announces April Students of the Month
Kingfisher High School has named its Students of the Month for April 2023.
Students are chosen based on many characteristics including responsibility, leadership, work ethic, reliability, kindness and more.
Selected by the faculty and staff were freshman Sam Wood, sophomore Conner Askey, junior Myka Elliott and senior Alli Themer.
Wood is the son of Jay and Libby Wood.
He is listed on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll and is a member of the Oklahoma Honor Society.
Wood is a member of both the KHS football team and golf teams.
Askey is the son of Gene and April Askey.
He is listed on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll and is a member of both the National Honor Society and Oklahoma Honor Society.
Askey has received the 4.0 Award.
He attended the Southwestern Interscholastic Meet and placed first in both Microsoft Office and spreadsheets. At the Redlands Interscholastic Meet of Champions, he placed second in computer apps.
Askey is a member of the KHS track team.
He is active in the First Baptist Church Youth Group.
Elliott is the daughter of Clay and Lili Elliott.
She is an active member of the Kingfisher FFA Chapter where she has been named the Member of the Month as a sophomore and a junior.
Elliott is involved on many teams including the national qualifying ag issues team and livestock judging team.
She successfully exhibits market lambs and has won numerous honors including Kingfisher County grand champion market lamb, 2023 Northwest District grand champion market lamb, Cheyenne National Livestock Expo supreme champion market lamb and reserve grand champion market lamb at OYE in 2022.
Elliott was recently elected to be the chapter reporter for 2023-2024.
She has taken multiple AP courses and enjoys participating in community activities and leadership conferences.
Themer is the daughter of Dennis and Tammy Themer.
She is listed on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll and is a member of both the National Honor Society and Oklahoma Honor Society.
Themer recognized a need to help others in the community, so she started an organization called Students Stepping Up and it continues to make an impact with her leadership.
She is a member of Student Council where she currently serves as student body president.
Last year, Themer participated in the Distinguished Young Woman program. She won the local contest and was secind runner-up at the state contest.
She attended Girls State last summer and was elected lieutenant governor by her peers.
Themer is a registered parliamentarian and has received the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Award. She also serves on the Center of Family Love Teen Board in Okarche.
