KHS announces Students of the Month
Kingfisher High School has named its Students of the month for March 2024.
Students are chosen based on many characteristics including responsibility, leadership, work ethic, reliability, kindness and more.
Selected by the faculty and staff were freshman Caleb Johnson, sophomore Jhett Birdwell, junior Emiley Watkins and senior Amy Deatherage.
Johnson is the son of Jeff and Amy Johnson.
He is listed on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll and is a member of the Oklahoma Honor Society.
He has received the 4.0 Award and is a member of the Pride of KHS band and the KHS academic team.
Johnson is also a part of the Aviation program and the Federated Church youth group.
Birdwell is the son of Joel and Bridget Birdwell.
He is a member of both the National Honor Society and the Oklahoma Honor Society and is listed on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll.
He has received the 4.0 Award and Academic Award.
Birdwell is an active member of the Kingfisher FFA Chapter.
He is also a member of the KHS football team and the KHS boys’ basketball team and was part of the 2023 Class 4A academic state champion team.
Watkins is the daughter of Scott and Shelly Watkins.
She is a member of both the National Honor Society and the Oklahoma Honor Society and is listed on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll.
Watkins has received the 4.0 Award and the Academic Award.
She is a member of the KHS girls tennis team and the yearbook staff.
Watkins is active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Student Council where she served as STING co-chairman this year.
She is also active in the First Baptist Church youth group.
Deatherage is the daughter of Ryan and Jill Deatherage.
She is a member of the National Honor Society and is listed on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll.
She has received the 4.0 Award and the Academic Award.
Deatherage is a member of the KHS cheer team that was Class 4A academic state champion in 2021 and Class 4A state champion in 2023.
She was named a Junior Lion in November 2023.
Deatherage is active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Student Council where she is currently serving as president and the First Baptist Church youth group.
