Averial Williams keeps a detailed list of her classmates.

It includes names, addresses, spouses, emails and more.

She often puts it to use to not only keep in touch with her fellow Kingfisher High School graduates in the Class of 1959, but also to plan gatherings.

One such event took place last Wednesday at Eischen’s in Okarche - the group’s usual “hangout” - as 12 members of that graduating class gathered to celebrate a 65th reunion.

“There were 47 of us who graduated and 21 are still living,” noted Williams, who now lives in Midwest City and was Averial Rivers when she graduated.

Joining her Wednesday were Edna Boutwell Eads, Danny Mastalka, Judy Williams Bernhardt and Kathy Burpo Stewart of Kingfisher; Wanda Homier States of Hennessey; Barbara Schoelen Smola and Donna Horn Smith of Oklahoma City; Charlie Mathis of Enid; Don Max Tharp of Guthrie; Howard Johnson of Norman; and Sharon Evans Baker, who traveled the furthest from Winnsboro, Texas.

Classmates gathered for reunions to commemorate 10 years, 20, 25, 30, 40 and 50.

After the 50th year, classmates gathered annually at Eischens on April Fool’s Day.

They did that for a decade until COVID-19 put a stop to it.

The group resumed meeting in 2023 and did so again last week.
