Kingfisher High School has named its Students of the Month for September 2023.

Students are chosen based on many characteristics including responsibility, leadership, work ethic, reliability, kindness and more.

Selected by the faculty and staff were freshman Maya Haney, sophomore Isabella Gomez, junior Mia Hartman and senior Peyton Walker.

Haney is the daughter of Tyrone Reece and Julie and Michael Swisher.

She is currently serving as the freshman class secretary.

She was a member of the KHS cross country team that won the regional championship as well as Class 4A academic state championship.

She is also a member of the KHS basketball, soccer and track teams.

Haney is involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Student Council.

Gomez is the daughter of Jose and Marcie Gomez.

She is listed on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll.

She is a member of the KHS choir where she has won numerous awards and honors, including Western Oklahoma Choral Directors Association and Junior High All-State.

Gomez is a member of the KHS softball team and Student Council.

Hartman is the daughter of Chad and Leah Hartman.

She is listed on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll and is a member of the National Honor Society.

She is active in the Kingfisher FFA Chapter where she currently serves as treasurer.

In 2022, Hartman was a member of the state champion parliamentary procedure team and in 2023 she was named the state high individual in ag sales.

Hartman is also a member of the KHS cheer squad that was named 4A academic state champion in 2021 and regional and 4A state champion in 2023.

She plays golf for KHS and was a member of the 2023 4A academic state championship team.

Hartman is also active in Student Council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the First Baptist Church Youth Group.

Walker is the daughter of Charles and Julie Walker.

She is listed on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll and is a member of both the National Honor Society and Oklahoma Honor Society.

She was a member of the KHS cross country team that was recently named 4A academic state champion and won the regional championship.

Walker is also a member of the KHS girls basketball team where she has been named one of the team captains this year.

As a junior, she was selected first-team all-conference and was named to the Wheat Capital all-tournament team.

Walker is also a member of the KHS soccer team and is active in Students Stepping Up, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Student Council.
