The Kingfisher High School Student Council has been planning diligently for the 2023 homecoming festivities.

This year’s homecoming will be held Friday, Sept. 29, when the KHS football team hosts Mount St. Mary.

The homecoming theme this year is set around Pixar.

The main theme is “Victory Awaits” from the movie “UP.”

“Each class has selected a Pixar movie they chose to model their homecoming festivities after,” said Amy Pearson, a STUCO faculty sponsor along with Stephanie Bieren.

Freshmen chose “Monsters, Inc.,” sophomores picked “Wreck It Ralph,” the junior class chose “Toy Story” and seniors picked “Inside Out.”

Community events include the annual homecoming parade at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, through downtown Kingfi sher.

“We invite the community to attend,” said Amy Deatherage, KHS Student Council president.

The parade will begin at Walter Building Center and go south on Main Street.

The parade will include the Yellowjacket football teams (including varsity, junior high and other local peewee teams) and cheerleaders, the Pride of Kingfi sher Marching Band, KHS football homecoming court, class floats, clubs and organizations.

Organizations or individuals who wish to participate can contact Pearson at apearson@kingfisher.k12. ok.us by Friday, Sept. 22, to be placed in the parade lineup.

The football homecoming queen candidates this year are Jaelin Cortes, Jennifer Garcia and Addy Matthews.

The football captains are Dallen Barton, Tanner Parker and Jake Reagan.

Junior attendants are Stella Kannady and Sam Tollefson.

The 2023 KHS homecoming queen and captain will be announced at a ceremony at 6:15 p.m. prior to the football game.

It’s also during that pregame ceremony that the 2003 and 2013 state championship football teams will be recognized.

There will be a meet-andgreet with those team members who attend beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Kingfisher Junior High cafeteria.

Kickoff of the football game is at 7 p.m.

The Student Council took orders for short and long sleeve t-shirts as well as sweatshirts and a limited number will be available for sale at the football game.
